Disabled access and inclusion

We offer both disabled access and inclusion at the Munich Documentation Center.

Persons with impaired mobility and wheelchair users

The Munich Documentation Center is accessible for persons with impaired mobility and partially accessible for wheelchair users. The entrance has an electric door opener and the threshold is 3 cm high. The staff at the information desk are happy to assist you.

All areas of the exhibitions are accessible. Wheelchairs will fit under the illuminated tables in the exhibition Munich and National Socialism. There are two elevators. Disabled access restrooms are available on the ground floor and in the basement. Visitors may borrow folding chairs or a wheelchair in the foyer. All the images and exhibition texts can be viewed on screens in the Learning Center in the basement where there is seating available.

Facilities for the visually impaired and for the blind

Parts of the Munich Documentation Center are accessible for the visually impaired and the blind. On the ground floor there are tactile layout plans in braille and cuneiform script that provide an introduction to the exhibition Munich and National Socialism. Braille signs on the frames of all exhibition elements and on the staircases guide the visually impaired and blind through the exhibition. Our free media guide provides information for the visually impaired. Guide dogs may be brought into the exhibition.

Facilities for persons with impaired hearing and for the deaf

Parts of the Munich Documentation Center are accessible for persons with impaired hearing and for the deaf. If you wear a hearing aid you can borrow a portable induction loop in the foyer that is compatible with our free media guides and our audio guide system. Our media guide provides information in German and international sign language. Our events hall and one of the seminar rooms are equipped with an audio induction loop system. On request we also offer tours of the exhibition Munich and National Socialism in sign language.

Barrier-free website

The Munich Documentation Center is endeavoring to make its website barrier-free in line with the Bavarian E-Government Ordinance (BayEGovV). Here you will find our barrier-free declaration.
