DOK.fest München is Germany's largest documentary film festival. The festival presents the highlights of current documentary filmmaking on the big screen in the cinema and on the digital screen @home. Every year in May, DOK.fest München presents around 100 international documentary films on the big screen at partner venues in Munich. The program is divided into competitions and annually changing sections.

On May 9, DOK.fest returns to the Munich Documentation Center:

In the documentary CHANGE MY MIND (Czech Republic, 2025) film-maker Robin Kvapil accompanies three Czech “Dezoláti”— conspiracy theorists — on their journey into the Ukrainian war zone. They are convinced that in most of Ukraine there is no war going on, that Russia is not the aggressor, that it is the West’s fault, and that Western media are telling lies about Putin’s “special operation.” In Kharkiv and Donbass, Petra, Nikola, and Ivo are confronted with the reality of the war. They experience a bomb alarm and destruction and encounter injured soldiers and grieving families. Will they question their convictions? Kvapil‘s film project is a daring experiment on the borderline between empathy and ideology.

The film CHANGE MY MIND will be followed by a discussion — to mark Europe Day— about the challenges the European Union faces in times of crisis, war, and disinformation. The podium guests will be the director Robin Kvapil, the journalist and conspiracy theory researcher Katharina Nocun (requested), and Renke Deckarm, press spokesperson and deputy director of the regional representation of the European Commission in Munich. Moderation: Daniel Sponsel, president of the University of Film and Television Munich.
