Voices of The Black Agenda: A Meaningful Conversation on Empowerment and Racial Justice Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman in conversation with QUEEN Lizzy

July 8, 2023 | 7.00 pm

The Black Agenda, published by Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman, is the first book of its kind: a collection of in-depth essays written exclusively by black scholars and experts from the fields of economics, education, health, climate, and technology. It represents a courageous and urgently-needed move toward social justice. Addressing the question “What lies ahead for America?” the essays discuss politics, mental health, artificial intelligence, the climate movement, the future of work, the LGBTQ community, the criminal justice system, and many other topics.

Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman and Queen Lizzy will discuss the book The Black Agenda,  sharing their different perspectives from the United States and Germany. This open conversation is intended as a thought-provoking and inspiring illumination of the current debates about racial justice.

The speakers

Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman is a doctoral student in Public Policy and Economics at the Harvard Kennedy School as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, a Ford Foundation Graduate Fellow, and a Women and Public Policy Program Doctoral Fellow.

Ever since Lise-Christine Kobla Mendama aka Queen Lizzy helped to organize the Black Lives Matter demonstration in Munich in 2020 and gave a speech before a crowd of 25,000 people, she has become a public face of the movement in Germany. With her debut EP Who am I? the 22-year-old discovered and underscored her musical identity. As QUEEN Lizzy she reminds her audiences of the attributes she seeks to embody as a person of color: power, elegance, and strength – against social resistance of any kind.
